Trent Bell

Trent Bell is one of my many inspirations. He is in a boy band called The Collective and his career is sky rocketing.

Before Trent bell became Trent Bell from The Collective, Trent had faced a lot of rejection.

Trent comes from a town called Townsville in Queensland. He moved from Townsville at a young age to Brisbane to pursue his music career.

He auditioned on so many shows such as Australian Idol. He finally tried his luck on X-factor. He tried 3 times until he got put into The Collective.

Trent Bell is an inspiration to me because no matter what kind of rejection he got, he never stopped going after his dream.

Many people think that The Collective are a repeat of One Direction. They are so much more. The Collective have so much drive and talent, it is beyond amazing.

Kimberly Lovegrove

Who is Kimberly? Does anyone really know themselves? I may come across as someone who has it all figured out but I certainly do not. Half the time im winging it just going with the flow.

A lot has happen in my life since I turned 10. I lost my father. This period of my life that was filled with so much grief and mourning that it was almost unbearable, if it wasn’t for my family it would have been a lot more harder to cope with the passing of my father. I moved out of home when I was 15. I managed that pretty well, as well as finishing high school.

In 2012 I received the City of Unley Young Citizen of the Year award for my constant support in the community and my passion to make a difference.

When I was younger all I knew was that I want to make history and baby have I did just that? I was the first indigenous awardee for the young citizen of the year, the South Australian finalist for girlfriend of the year in 2011, the only aboriginal participant in 2011 for Youth Parliament in South Australia.

I really have not had any accomplishments like that in Victoria except being the only indigenous women to study a diploma of business in public relations.

My dream is to one day work for Scooter Braun or be CEO of Island Records in New York. I know this a big dream. My favourite saying is ‘dream big or go home’.

If I could offer any advice to anyone who may be facing what I have faced I want to tell you…don’t for a second give up. Many people have asked me why I did not give up, would it have been easier. Maybe but im not a person who gives up so easily. I stay and fight until I can’t fight anymore and im practically on my death bed. Once I have that dream stuck in my head, I can not stop until I have reached it. So do not ever give up because when one door closes another will definitely open.

Omar Dean

Omar Dean is a personal inspiration for me. He is a personal inspiration to me because of the hardship he has faced and he still did not give up, he did not let his tormentors win. I really admire that.

Omar Dean came 6th in last year’s X-Factor AU. He auditioned with Climax by Usher. He told everyone that at a young age he was bullied for being overweight and that he turned to music to get him through. I two have faced this especially when I was younger. Omar was very fortunate to have parents to send him over to the states to lose weight.

Omar has the voice of an angel. So much talent. I have not had the chance to meet Omar but if I did one thing I would ask is for tips on how to lose weight and two thank him for giving young girls and boys hope that you can become comfortable and confident with your body image with whatever size or colour that you are.

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson was the king of pop. He faced so much hardship. It all began when he came into the entertainment industry with his band the Jackson 5 with his brothers.

From a young age he was told who to be, what to do and what to look like. He slowly changed everything that made him lovable. Do not get me wrong he is still loveable but he would have been struggling to keep himself together. One person cannot handle all that personal change and still like the person they become.

Many people have believed that Justin Bieber might turn out the same way. I just laugh. I do not see how, Justin is white, he can not go any whiter and two if you have a close circle of friends and family you cannot fall of that horse, so to speak.

If I could give Michael any advice now if he was still with us, I would tell him. Be happy with who you are, you have millions of people who love you and love you just the way you are.

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber what can I say. Well a lot of people may know him recently due to his recent personal choices such as urinating into a bucket and the most recent one getting arrested by the Miami Police Department.

I am here to put good faith into all of our hearts.

Most of the people I know ask me why I am still a fan and still follow him. I simply tell them, we were all his age once, maybe not under the same circumstances nevertheless we all went through that stage that made people think twice. Im not worried about his actions I am more worried about how some of his loyal fans have left his side without truly understanding the ramifications of their actions.

We as a society judge the unfamiliar. We do not mean to do it, it just happens.

Many people have judged Justin Bieber’s personal activities and not the actions of his career. I get quite angry about this.

Justin has heavily volunteered for a charity organisation called Pencils of Promise. POP helps to build schools and create programs that provide education opportunities for children. Justin and the POP crew travelled to Guatemala to build 2 schools along with a performance. If you have seen his confession videos you will see how sincere and honest he is and the hope he brang to those lovely children.

Whether you think he is the next train wreck or the next usher or whoever. Justin Bieber is just a guy who just wants to share what he loves…Music.

Jessica Mauboy

Jessica Mauboy came second in Australian idol in 2006. She was born in Darwin. On her debut album in 2007 she sold thirty five thousand copies. Did I mention she is a female aboriginal women?

Mauboy is a role model to the entire indigenous community. She was only 19 when she auditioned for Australian idol.

Mauboy has done so much in her career. She’s had 4-5 albums come out. Collaborated with big rap artists such as flo-rida and Ludacris, she was a part of a girl group called the Young Divas with ex Australian idol contestants in previous years.

Mauboy is another inspiration to me. Over the years she has worked hard to the bone and never forgotten where she came from.

If I had the chance to meet Mauboy at least once I would be so flabbergasted.

If I could be as successful in my life as she has been I would consider myself a very fortunate young women.

Casey Donovan

I remember seeing Casey win the 2004 Australian Idol. She was only sixteen years old. So young. Later that year she released her album which had the songs she performed on the show.

What came as a shock was we did not hear from her for a while.

Rumour was going around that she dropped her label for telling her she was too fat. When I heard this, it didn’t come much as a shock. It is just how that industry is for performers. They have a certain look and if you don’t match their ideals your cut.

I find that completely unfair. Why judge someone by how they look and not the talent they possess.

Casey now is doing theatre. Many musicians go down this path or become independent artists.

In this society we face discrimination and racism and also many other challenges that are barriers for us to reach our goals or dreams however if you are passionate about that dream there is always a way around that barrier. Never give up on your dream even if someone tells you otherwise because you can do anything you set your mind to.

Samantha Jade

Samantha Jade is one amazing young women. Samantha won the 2012 X-factor. Every week she performed so amazingly.

I had the amazing opportunity to see her live twice. The first time was when I took my best friend to the x-factor live tour where they toured Australia with the top 5 contestants. The show was amazing.

The second time was when I won a competition through Optus and the Hot Hits. I got to take 2 friends. Samantha Jade is quite short so we couldn’t really see her. But when you hear her voice man did I get shivers down my spine. It is hard to try and explain what her voice sounds like if you have not heard it live before.

I find Samantha Jade a true inspiration. Many years ago she had a recording contract with a music label in America and released 2 albums but it was not really going anywhere so she moved back to Australia to try her luck. She kept working her ass off until x-factor appeared. She auditioned with Breakeven by The Script.

Samantha Jade has come a long way since her career in the states. I believe that no matter where Samantha is she truly does give the message that if things do not work out, things will work out with hard work and determination.

The Collective

2012 was a very good year in Australia regarding the music industry, well in my opinion it is. Every year I have a tradition of watching xfactor or shows like that. It really inspires me.

Well xfactor that year was historically amazing. On the advertisements of the show, they kept saying that there were gonna be 4 amazing mentors. They were Ke$ha, Usher, Beyoncé and One Direction! When I saw this advertisement I was oh shit, things just got real.

Well for those who were watching the TV show, 5 young amazing guys were put in a group. Their name were William Singe, Trent Bell, Zach Russell, Jayden Sierra and Julian De Vizio.

The boys had not come up with the name of the group until their first live show performance. The name they chose was THE COLLECTIVE.

Every week the Australian public voted on each contestant. The boys ended up in the grand final but got eliminated at third place. When I saw them eliminated I was not sad because I knew that they would get a record deal, I mean how could they not they are too talented not to sign, and you would be stupid not to sign them.

I knew The Collective had finally made it when I went to an in store to see them perform live in promoting their first single Surrender. The event was at Geelong. I got to the venue an hour early.

When it was time for the boys to be on stage, I was surrounded by at least 60 people.  I was at the front but I kept getting pushed so I walked around to the side of the stage.

When the boys came on everyone went crazy, so many screaming girls. While I was watching the performance. A girl in front of me kept raising her massive poster in front of me. For most of the performance I could not see a thing.

The atmosphere was crazy, girls crying and screaming. You would think The Collective were international or something. You do not really get that with local artists but The Collective are different.
