2012 was a very good year in Australia regarding the music industry, well in my opinion it is. Every year I have a tradition of watching xfactor or shows like that. It really inspires me.
Well xfactor that year was historically amazing. On the advertisements of the show, they kept saying that there were gonna be 4 amazing mentors. They were Ke$ha, Usher, Beyoncé and One Direction! When I saw this advertisement I was oh shit, things just got real.
Well for those who were watching the TV show, 5 young amazing guys were put in a group. Their name were William Singe, Trent Bell, Zach Russell, Jayden Sierra and Julian De Vizio.
The boys had not come up with the name of the group until their first live show performance. The name they chose was THE COLLECTIVE.
Every week the Australian public voted on each contestant. The boys ended up in the grand final but got eliminated at third place. When I saw them eliminated I was not sad because I knew that they would get a record deal, I mean how could they not they are too talented not to sign, and you would be stupid not to sign them.
I knew The Collective had finally made it when I went to an in store to see them perform live in promoting their first single Surrender. The event was at Geelong. I got to the venue an hour early.
When it was time for the boys to be on stage, I was surrounded by at least 60 people. I was at the front but I kept getting pushed so I walked around to the side of the stage.
When the boys came on everyone went crazy, so many screaming girls. While I was watching the performance. A girl in front of me kept raising her massive poster in front of me. For most of the performance I could not see a thing.
The atmosphere was crazy, girls crying and screaming. You would think The Collective were international or something. You do not really get that with local artists but The Collective are different.
